Impacts to traffic, parking, businesses, and residents
Construction will be block-by-block. Each block may be impacted by construction for up to two months.
During construction, 1 lane eastbound will be retained to traffic and westbound traffic will be closed.
Some parking changes will take place from Gore Avenue to Carrall Street. The City will provide as much parking as possible after working hours. All temporary parking restrictions will be removed as soon as they are not needed.
Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times. Most sidewalks will stay open during construction.
We will provide advance notice of any disruption to your water supply, except if there is an emergency. During construction, you may occasionally notice cloudy water. This cloudiness is not a health concern and will usually go away within a few hours.
Are you a business in this area?
Your business is important to us. We are taking measures to ensure the public can continue to access your business during construction.
How this project will improve the city
The water mains we are replacing are 67 to 90 years old. This work will strengthen our water system so the neighbourhood continues to get a good supply of high-quality water.
The new water mains should serve the neighbourhood for the next 100 years.
